General and structural waterproofing admixture

Sika-1 is a normal setting liquid waterproofing admixture for mortar and concrete. It blocks the capillaries and pores in the applied cementitious system to provide an effective water barrier against the transmission of liquid water.

Sika-1 extended information

Recommended Dosage:

Add one part of Sika-1 to 10 parts of water, which is equivalent to approximately 3% of cement content. When using very wet sand, the ratio must be increased to 1:8 or in extreme cases 1:6.

Note: Trial mixes should always be conducted to establish the exact dosage rates and water requirements per mix.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

MIXING

Sika-1 must be stirred slowly before use to ensure a homogeneous, lump free consistency.

Sika-1 shall be diluted in the gauging water. The dilution must be stirred slowly (to ensure a homogeneous, lump free consistency) prior to addition into the mortar/concrete mixer. It can also be added neat to the mortar/concrete mix provided that the mixture is properly mixed to achieve a homogeneous consistency.

APPLICATION METHOD / TOOLS

The standard rules of good concreting practice (con-cerning production, placing and curing) are to be followed. Refer to relevant standards.

Sika-1 may be combined with many other Sika products.
